Pregnancy Care

Growing a baby is hard work! Pregnancy is a time when postural and hormonal changes occur in preparation for the birthing process. Muscles, joints and ligaments are under pressure due to the constant changes happening in the woman’s body. It’s no wonder at least 50% of all pregnant women experience back pain during their pregnancy.

We are here to help! Our pregnancy Chiropractor Dr Jemima Nelson is passionate about caring for both pregnant women and children and is one of the few Chiropractors in QLD to be formally trained in these areas.

Chiropractic care during pregnancy can aid in musculoskeletal discomfort caused by the numerous changes our bodies undergo during our journey to motherhood. The extra stress on the body can result in spinal dysfunction and muscular/ligamentous tightness. Dr.  Jemima will do an assessment of all of these structures to diagnose what the problem is. Her approach is gentle, warm and nurturing and she strives to help women achieve a comfortable pregnancy journey and birth experience.

Chiropractic care during pregnancy may assist pelvic alignment, which may limit the room for your baby to grow comfortably . This restriction is called intrauterine constraint and can make it difficult for your baby to get into a good position for birth.

A Baby who is not in a good position may result in a more difficult labour and a more traumatic birth for both mum and baby.

Other benefits of Chiropractic care include;

. Chiropractic care could have a preventative effect against future pelvic floor dysfunction and urinary incontinence . (1)

. Some studies have commented that having regular chiropractic care during pregnancy  may  shorten labour time (2-3).

At Thrive Health Co, our dedicated pregnancy team help to sooth your aches and pains and prepare your body for birth and beyond. If muscles and joints are moving well, it makes sense that births are more straightforward.
