(TMJ) Jaw pain

Is jaw pain preventing you from eating?

Do you suffer from (TMJ) Jaw pain?

Do you suffer from jaw pain? Does your jaw click, locks open or closed? It’s likely you are suffering from TMJ pain. (TMJ - Temporomandibular Joint) is the hinge-like joint that connects your upper and lower jaw bones. This complex joint is a series of muscles, ligaments, discs and bones that move your jaw forward, backward and side to side. TMJ pain or issues, affects about 20 to 30% of the adult population, occurring more commonly in women and those between the ages of 20 and 40 years old.

TMJ is the most common cause of persistent jaw pain, clicking and popping or lack of jaw motion. It can result in jaw pain or dysfunction, earaches and headaches and facial pain.

The foundation of the issue is usually a combination of many different causes, which are interacting and straining each other contributing to muscle tightness and dysfunction.

Pain in the hands or wrists is more common than ever, thanks to the prevalence of smartphones and computer-focused work environments. An accurate diagnosis is vital to the correct management of your wrist pain. Most wrist injuries respond well to Physiotherapy and Myotherapy treatment and early intervention is important in order for the best possible outcome.
